In March 2021, we partnered with Fins Attached to sponsor 5 tags that will be affixed to 5 lucky sharks during their upcoming scientific research trips. We wanted to once again be apart of this this summer, and are providing 5 more names that could be given to the tagged sharks.

Please check out our Blog from our president’s own experience from a citizen science research expedition with Fins Attached, his own personal video compilation where you can see receivers being replaced, shark updates from our previous “Name that Shark” Contest, and our most recent blog, The Point of Shark Research Around the World.

We would like to encourage you to participate in the naming event. We will be collecting names starting July 13, 2022 and then on August 6, 2022, we will post several commonly submitted and unique names that we receive for everyone to vote on. Voting will close on August 12, 2022. We will then announce the Winning Names on August 15, 2022.

Click here to find the form to complete to submit as many names as you want. We would like to encourage you to think about names that may fit well with these species of sharks that Fins Attached regularly interacts with: Blue Sharks, Galapagos Sharks, Great White Sharks, Tiger Sharks, Silky Sharks, Hammerhead Sharks, and White Tip Reef Sharks. Names can be gender or non-gender specific, and we will take a collection of all for the voting.
